In 2007, this report was covered by 20/20. No matter what your beliefs are about the subject of being transgender, you must admit that these interviews are a real eye opener. These children know who they are and will not be denied the identity they want for themselves and I find that inspirational to say the least. I take my hat off to their parents and siblings for being open minded and accepting. That’s not a trait reported on much in our day and time.
This report makes me pose this question to you. How would you handle your child if he or she was born transgendered? Would you be supportive or try to instill traditional social gender roles in your child?
“No [mom] if I died you would be sad but if I never existed you would never know…” ~Riley (age 6)
Something to remember while watching:
Transgender is defined as identifying an with a gender other than the biological one.
This has nothing to do with sexuality.
